(a) & (b): An allocation of Rs. 1520.79 crore has been made under the Technology Upgradation of Fund Scheme (TUFS) during 2015-16 out of which Rs.881.64 crore has been disbursed as on 11.12.2015.
Under the Scheme for Integrated Textiles Parks (SITP) an allocation of Rs. 240.00 crore has been made during 2015-16 out of which Rs.17.33 crore has been disbursed as on 11.12.2015.
So far, 72 textile parks have been approved under SITP throughout the country. Once operational, these 72 textile parks are expected to generate employment for 4.5 lakh persons.
Based on the concerns raised by various associations/stakeholders and to encourage state governments to come forward for promoting textiles, the selection criteria was revised in November 2014 by giving preference to the proposals coming from states where textile eco system is not so strong. With these endeavours, 22 new textile parks were sanctioned during the last two years in 11 states. Proposals have been invited afresh from all the states/stakeholders based on the revised criteria.
(c) to (e): Ministry of Textiles had constituted an Expert Committee headed by Shri Ajay Shankar, Member Secretary, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council for reviewing the Textile Policy 2000. The Expert Committee has since submitted a draft Vision, Strategy and Action Plan. The draft policy covering relevant issues is under finalization.
