Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (DR. MURLI MANOHAR JOSHI)

(a) At present, no Kendriya Vidyalaya is functioning in the Union Territory of Daman and Diu.

(b),(c)&(d) A proposal was received from the Administrator, Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli for opening two Kendriya Vidyalayas one each at Daman and Diu.

Sites and the facilities proposed to be provided by the sponsors were got surveyed by KVS and according to survey report neither of the two places has the required infrastructure for opening the Kendriya Vidyalaya. Adequate number of Central Government/ public Sector Undertakings’ employees around the proposed sites is not available and because of this enrolment of minimum number of children is not assured.
