(a) whether the Government proposes to give more relief to Pharma Industries with a view to
increase Research and Development (R&D) in the Pharmaceutical Sector;
(b) if so, the details thereof;and
(c) the manner in which the relief is likely to be given to Pharma industries?

(a): The Government has provided a number of fiscal incentives and other support measures
for promoting Research and Development (R&D) in industry and increased utilization of locally
available R&D options for industrial development. Department of Revenue (TPL Division) has
however, informed that Taxation or relief therefrom is a part of the budget exercise.
Therefore, a view on this matter would be taken by them at an appropriate time.
(b) and (c): In view of the reply to (a) above, does not arise.
