MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
(SMT. SMRITI ZUBIN IRANI)

(a) to (c): The Ministry of Human Resource Development had launched a scheme named Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) in higher education on 30th November, 2015. The programme seeks to invite distinguished academicians from premier institutions from across the world, to conduct one week or two week course at an Indian institution. The upper limit of overall expenditure allowed for each such course is $8000 for 12-14 hours and $12000 for 20-28 hours course. Till date 478 courses have been approved and nearly 80 courses have already been organized. All courses are video recorded and some of them are also live webcasted depending on the available infrastructure and consent of the foreign faculty. This enables others to view the content later through the local and national GIAN portal and the National Digital Library.
