Question : Establishment of Small Industries under Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme

(a) whether the Government proposes to establish any small industry under Aatma Nirbhar Bharat scheme in North Bengal, Specifically Cooch Behar in West Bengal; and

(b) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a)&(b): Under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, Government of India has announced a special economic and comprehensive package of Rs. 20 lakh crore for all the sections of the society including MSMEs. As part of the stimulus package, the MSME sector has not only been given substantial allocation but has also been accorded priority in implementation of the measures to revive the economy. Announcements made under the stimulus package include Rs. 20,000 crore Subordinated Debt for Stressed MSMEs; Rs. 50,000 crore equity infusion through MSME Fund of Funds; Rs. 3.00 lakh crore Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme for MSMEs; revision in criteria for classification of MSMEs and no global tenders for Government procurement up to Rs. 200 crores.

Further, Ministry of MSME through its flagship scheme, namely, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is generating self-employment opportunities through establishment of micro enterprises by supporting traditional artisans and unemployed youth in all parts of the country including North Bengal region. The number of units assisted and employment opportunities generated under PMEGP in the State of West Bengal during last three years are as under:
