(a) whether there is any proposal for creating exclusive `Export Zones` for oranges and apples in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor;
(d) whether Nagpur for orange; and certain apple growing areas like J&K etc., are to be included in these Export Zones; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO ( e) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.191 FOR ANSWER ON 15.3.2002 REGARDING EXCLUSIVE EXPORT ZONES FOR ORANGES AND APPLES BY SHRIMATI PRABHA RAU
( a ) to ( c ) : Proposal for Agri Export Zone ( AEZ ) for apples received from State Government of Jammu and Kashmir, has been approved by the Government. Proposal for AEZ for oranges in Maharashtra was received, and the State Government of Maharashtra has been advised to evaluate the market potential and price competitiveness of oranges from Maharashtra and submit a revised proposal.
( d ) & ( e ) : Proposal for AEZ for oranges in Maharashtra includes the district of Nagpur. In case of AEZ for apples, the proposal from Jammu & Kashmir includes the apple growing areas of the State.
