Question : Indian Medicines

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA,YOGA AND NATUROPATHY,UNANI,SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY(AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) the State-wise details of the research conducted/being conducted regarding ancient Indian Medicines across the country including Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal along with the outcome thereof;

(b) the State-wise details of the funds allocated and utilised in the last three years and the current year so far including Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal;

(c) whether the Government has signed any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IITs in this regard, if so, the details thereof along with the targets set therefor; and

(d) the details of the funds likely to be sanctioned for the same?

(a): The state-wise details of Research conducted/ being conducted regarding Indian Medicines by the Research Councils under the Ministry of AYUSH across the country including Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal is appended at Annexure-I. Till date, 12 technologies have been developed and commercialized by transferring to the Industry through National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for wider public utility including drugs for disease viz., AYUSH 82 for diabetes, AYUSH-64 for Malaria, AYUSH SG for Rheumatoid Arthritis etc, also 17 drugs for RCH have been developed.

(b): A list of State-wise details of the funds allocated and utilised in the last three years and the current year is appended at Annexure-II.

(c): Yes. All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under Ministry of AYUSH has signed an MoU with IIT Delhi to initiate joint multidisciplinary research, in the areas of developing innovative techniques to understand and evaluate the Ayurveda fundamental principles in diagnosis and evaluation of various disease conditions, developing newer innovative diagnostic tools and equipment, research in the field of drug development, drug delivery, procedure techniques viz. Panchakarma, Kriyakalpa and other therapies in light of modern technological advancements. Further research activities for molecular understanding of Ayurveda concepts like Agni- Koshtha- Rasapanchaka- Panchakarma therapies, Shat Kriyakaala etc. in the light of modern physical and biological science.
(d) No fund sanctioned so far.
