(a) the target fixed for doubling of railway lines during the Ninth Five Year Plan;
(b) whether the target fixed for has been achieved during the said period;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor;
(d) the details of railway lines doubled during the said period; and
(e) the amount spent so far for achieving the aforesaid target?
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI DIGVIJAY SINGH)
(a): The target of doubling of 2500 km was fixed for the
9th five year plan.
(b): The progress achieved so far in first four years of
the 9th plan is 840 km. During the last year (2001-2002)
of 9th plan, 300 km of doubling is targeted for
completion.
(c): The performance during IXth Plan is expected to be
less as compared to the target fixed for the Plan due to
constraint of resources and technical constraints,
contractor failures etc.
(d): The details of railway lines doubled during the
first four years of the 9th Plan are given as under:-
