(a) to (f): For the year 2000-2001, a sum of Rs.2435 crore was released to all 28 States and 3 Union Territories under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The details of the releases, State-wise and UT-wise, are given in the Statement annexed.
The Ministry of Rural Development have received Utilisation Certificates for Rs.220.15 crore from the States of Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. A sum of Rs.35.31 lakh has been utilised in the Union Territory of Daman & Diu. In most States, tenders have been finalized/are being finalized and works are to commence immediately thereafter.
The PMGSY, a new Programme, was launched in December, 2000 and is rapidly gaining momentum.
