Question : RAJDHANI TRAIN FOR BARAUNI



(a) whether the Railways propose to introduce Rajdhani express train between New Delhi and Barauni;

(b) if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether New Delhi-Lucknow Jan-Shatabdi Express is likely to be extended up to Gorakhpur;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): No, Madam. Rajdhani Express trains are long distance fast moving prestigious trains primarily meant for connecting National capital and State capitals. However, at present, New Delhi and Barauni are connected by 14 pairs of Mail/Express trains including 2 pairs of Rajdhani Express trains.

(c) to (e): No, Madam. Shatabdi type express trains are fast intercity day trains which originate at a particular station in the morning and return in the evening.
