Question : UTILIZATION OF FUEL CESS FOR NHS DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS



(a) the total length of National Highways (NHs) constructed in the country during the last ten months, location/NH-wise;

(b) the quantum of fuel cess allocated to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for funding developmental projects on NHs along with the utilization of these funds during the said period;

(c) whether any check has been established to ensure that the funds received from the fuel cess are not diverted to any other projects; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) Scheme-wise length of National Highways (NHs) constructed during 2014-15 till February, 2015 is as follows:-

(b) The amount of Rs. 9,565.81 crore of fuel cess allocated to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for funding developmental projects on NHs during 2014-15.

(c) & (d) The amount under fuel cess is released to NHAI after receiving utilization certificate from them. Hence, question of diverting fuel cess allocated to NHAI to other projects does not arise.
