THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CHEMICALS & FERTILIZERS (SHRI S.B. MOOKHERJEE)

The financial status of the Ramagundam Unit of Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) as on 31.3.2001 (prov.) is given below :

Equity	-	Rs. 148 crore	Net fixed asset	-	Rs. 53 crore	Working Capital	- (-) Rs. 66 crore	Profit and Loss	- (-) Rs. 1549.65 crore (cummulative)

The operations of the Ramagundam unit have been suspended from 1.4.1999 due to a very high cost of production and continuous incremental losses and the expenditure on its standing charges (salary, wage and preservation cost) are met out of the budgetary support being extended to FCI by the Government.
