Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION & BROADCASTING (SHRI MANISH TEWARI)

(a) to (f): Prasar Bharati has informed that only the post of TV News Correspondents (TVNC) is in the pay-scale of Group ‘A’. Producers belong to a different cadre. TVNCs/ TV Assistant News Correspondents (TVANCs)/ TV Assistant News Editors (TVANEs) were initially engaged in 1987 as ‘Artists’. They were later declared regular temporary Government Servants in 1993, with effect from their date(s) of initial engagement. However, the Recruitment Rules for the post of TVNCs are still to be finalized as these are the subject of inter-departmental consultations. The concurrence of Department of Personnel & Training, the Union Public Service Commission and Ministry of Law is required before the gazette notification can be issued.
