(a) whether the Paika Bidroha of 1817 has been included in the school history
textbooks as the first war of independence against British Rule;
(b) whether there are plans to popularise the rebellion in schools through other
methods like workshops, plays, competitions, or lectures; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The ‘Paika Bidroha’ has been mentioned under the heading `The Khurda
Uprising – A case Study` in the National Council of Educational Research and
Training (NCERT)’s Social Science textbook, namely, “Our Pasts-III” (Part-II) for
Class VIII.
(b) No such proposal is under consideration at present.
(c) Does not arise.
