(a) whether the year-long celebration of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary has left commemorative coins worth Rs. 34 lakh unsold;
(b) if so, the reasons therefor;
(c) whether the Centre has mooted a proposal to distribute the unsold coins free of cost to Members of Parliament; and

(a) & (b) The National Committee on Nationwide Celebration of 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar decided to release commemorative coins of Rs. 10/- and Rs. 125/- in memory of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. A set of two coins consisting of Rs. 10/- and Rs. 125/- denomination is being sold at Rs. 3480/- on ‘no profit and no loss’ basis by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation. The value of 911 set of coins lying unsold with Dr. Ambedkar Foundation as on date is Rs. 31,70,280/-
