Question : Effect of Mining on Agriculture

(a) whether it is a fact that mining is hampering agriculture productivity in Keonjhar, Odisha and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the details of water allocation to both industries and agriculture; and
(c) whether the water allocation is also affecting the agriculture and if so, the details thereof?

(a)to (c):As per the reportof the State Government of Odisha, mining is not hampering agriculture productivity in Keonjhar, Odisha.Mining is being carried out in three blocks namely Joda, Harichandanpur and Bansapal of Keonjhar where paddy is the major crop during kharif. No significant decrease in productivity of paddy in these blocks has been reported by State Government of Odisha. In these blocks, the source of irrigation is lift/shallow/borewell, dugwell& medium irrigation which is utilized for agriculture production only.
