Question : Survey regarding Unemployment

(a)whether the Government has conducted any survey regarding unemployment and possibilities of employment in Government and private sectors across the country particularly in Bihar during the last three years;
(b)if so, the details including separate data thereof, State/district-wise;
(c)if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d)the time by which and the manner in which employment is likely to be provided to unemployed persons?

(a) to (c): National Statistical Office(NSO) under the M/o Statistics & Programme Implementation has launched an annual Employment-Unemployment Survey called Periodic Labour Force Survey during 2017-18. The first report has been made available which provides relevant data State-wise including Bihar, which is at Annex-I. However, district-wise data are not available.
No Survey has been conducted to assess employment potential in the Government and private sector.
(d): While no time frame has been fixed as such to provide employment to all unemployed persons, government has taken various steps for generating employment in the country like encouraging private sector of economy, fast-tracking various projects involving substantial investment and increasing public expenditure on schemes like Prime

Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and Deendyal Antodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). The State-wise and year- wise details of employment generated through these schemes in the country are given at Annex-II, III, IV & V.
