Question : SCHEME FOR REGENERATION OF TRADITIONAL INDUSTRIES



(a): whether the Government has unveiled any scheme for the regeneration of traditional industries;

(b): if so, the details in this regard; and

(c): the other measures being taken by the Government for the modernization of traditional products clusters including Khadi, Coir, Pottery, etc.?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b)&(c): The Central Government has approved a scheme titled the `Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries` (SFURTI) at a total cost of Rs. 97.25 crore. This Scheme is for development of a total of 100 clusters in the khadi, coir and village industries (including pottery)over five years beginning 2005-06. The Ministry of Agro and Rural Industries (ARI) its organizations/institutions, State Governments, their organizations concerned, non-Governmental organizations, etc., constitute implementing/monitoring agencies for the Scheme. The guidelines of the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) are available on the website of the Ministry of Agro and Rural Industries at http://ari.nic.in.
