Question : Aids and Appliances for Differently Abled

(a) whether the Government has initiated any campaign to provide aids, assistive devices and equipments to the differently abled persons under the Sugamaya Bharat Abhiyan;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the names of the agencies/institutions through which the Government has decided to implement the above scheme;

(c) the details of aids and equipments distributed so far, State-wise; and

(d) the number of persons provided the said aids and equipments so far, Statewise?

(a &b) No, Sir. The Sugamaya Bharat Abhiyan deals with Accessibility while Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) Scheme deals with distribution of Aids and Appliances.
The Government is implementing Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) Scheme, under which the funds are released to various Implementing Agencies (National Institutes/Composite Regional Centres(CRCs)/District Disability Rehabilitation Centres(DDRCs)/ Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO)/ State Corporations/ Non Government Organisations, etc.) to assist the needy disabled persons (Divyangjan) in procuring durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation by reducing the effects of disabilities and enhance their economic potential.

(c & d) State-wise funds utilized for distribution of aids and assistive devices and number of beneficiaries benefitted under the scheme during 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 (as on 28.2.2017) is as per annexure.
