(a) whether the Government is considering to provide subsidies
to farmers directly;
(b) whether in view of all round rising inflation the Government
is also considering to increase the quantum of subsidies to farmers; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a): In order to ensure greater efficiency, cost effectiveness and better
delivery of subsidies, Finance Minister has announced in his budget speech for
2011-12 that the Government will move towards direct transfer of cash subsidy
to people living below poverty line in a phased manner.
(b) & (c): Cost norms of components under various schemes are revised from
time to time to keep pace with increase in prices.
