Question : CONSTRUCTION OF NATIONAL HIGHWAY NO-57

(a) whether National Highway No.-57 in Bihar was sanctioned in the year 1996-97;

(b) if so, the details of the survey conducted therefor;

(c) whether a survey had been taken up in four blocks for alignment of the above mentioned National Highway;

(d) whether the State Government had approved the alignment report received from the Consultant and forwarded the same to the Union Government in December, 1999; and

(e) if so, the reasons for delay in starting the construction work?

(a) Yes, Sir. National Highway No.-57 was notified on 31st March 1997.

(b) Survey is being conducted in four different packages as mentioned below: -

Package I	-	Muzaffarpur to Darbhanga.	Package II	-	Darbhanga to Jhanjharpur.	Package III	-	Jhanjharpur to Forbesganj.	Package IV	-	Forbesganj to Purnea.
