Question : Irrigation Facilities

(a) whether the Union Government has released/proposes to release additional funds apart from the present allocation to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers in Uttar Pradesh; and
(b) if so, the amount thereof along with the time by which it is likely to be allocated?

(a) & (b) During 2016-17, ninety-nine (99) on-going Major/Medium irrigation projects (Including 4 irrigation projects of Uttar Pradesh having ultimate irrigation potential of 15.03 Lha.) having ultimate irrigation potential of 76.03 lakh ha. and balance estimated cost of Rs.77595 cr. have been prioritized under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) - Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP) in consultation with States, for completion in phases up to December, 2019 along with their Command Area Development & Water Management (CADWM) works. Funding mechanism through NABARD has been approved by the Government for both Central and State share.
Central Assistance (CA) of Rs. 135.63 Cr. and Rs. 65.60 Cr. has been released for the prioritized projects of Uttar Pradesh during 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively. Further, Ministry has recommended State share of Rs. 1375 Cr. for 2018-19 to NABARD for the projects of Uttar Pradesh.
