Question : DRINKING WATER QUALITY TESTING LABORATORIES



(a) the number of Drinking Water Quality Testing laboratories existing in the country as on date, State-wise;

(b) whether the Government is considering to establish Drinking Water Quality Testing Laboratories in all the districts of the country;

(c) if so, the details thereof, State-wise, especially in Gujarat;

(d) whether any proposal for establishment of water quality testing laboratory is pending for approval with the Government;

(e) if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and

(f) the time by which these are likely to be cleared?

(a) to (c): As per the existing guidelines, Government of India is funding the State Governments for establishing District Water Testing Laboratories, wherever such facility is not available in the districts. As reported by the respective States, State-wise status of district water quality testing laboratories sanctioned and established, as on date, is annexed. In Gujarat State, all the 25 districts have been sanctioned with one district water testing laboratory.
