Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER ( SHRIMATI JAYAWANTI MEHTA )

(a) & (b): The following thermal power projects were received in Central Electricity Authority for grant of techno-economic clearance during the last two years i.e. from July 1998 to June 2000:

Name of Project Date of receipt
1.Kozhikode Heavy Fuel(128 MW) July, 1999
Status: The project was originally accorded TEC by CEA in October, 1994 and approved by Planning Commission in October, 1995. Subsequently, Kerala SEB shifted the site of the project from Edakkara to Nallalan based on techno-economic consideration. Kerala SEB has now submitted Detailed Project Report for the revised proposal at Nallalan in Kozhikode. The proposal was discussed with the representatives of KSEB in a meeting held in CEA on 3.11.1999. The details/clarifications sought in the meeting are awaited from Kerala SEB.

2.Kannur CCGT (513 MW) November, 1999

Status: The DPR for this project was originally received in January, 1997. This was, however, returned for want of necessary inputs. The revised proposal recommended by Government of Kerala was received in November, 1999 for clearance of CEA. This proposal has been accorded TEC on 28.1.2000.

No hydro electric scheme has been received in Central Electricity Authority from the Government of Kerala for approval during the last two years.
