Question : COMMITTEE ON FOUR YEAR DEGREE UNDER GRADUATE PROGRAMME



(a) whether the University Grants Commission has recently constituted an advisory committee to monitor the progress of implementation of the new four year degree/ under graduate programme rolled out by the University of Delhi;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time by which the report is likely to be submitted by the Committee to the Government?

(a): Yes, Madam.

(b): The terms of reference of the five-member Advisory Committee under the Chairmanship of Prof. S.K. Joshi, Former Director General, CSIR and Member, University Grants Commission (UGC), are (1) to track the progress of the implementation of the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) in the University of Delhi (DU), (2) offer corrective advice in matters pertaining to curricular, pedagogic and assessment systems, (3) assess implications of the FYUP for the post-graduate degree programmes in DU and other Central Universities, (4) deliberate on any other issue relevant to the FYUP, and make suitable recommendations to the UGC through interim reports submitted from time to time.

(c): The UGC has informed this Ministry that the Advisory Committee has not submitted any interim report. Given the subject matter, it is not possible to give a fixed time frame for the submission of the Committee Report.
