Question : National Water Quality Sub-mission

(a) whether the Government have launched a National Water Quality Submission aimed at providing the safe drinking water to the habitats affected by Arsenic and Fluoride;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any time-frame has been fixed to provide safe drinking water to all the habitats affected by Arsenic and Fluoride; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) The Ministry of Drinking Water had launched National Water Quality Sub-Mission (NWQSM) on 22nd March, 2017 to provide safe drinking water to 27,544 arsenic / fluoride affected rural habitations, in a span of 4 years, subject to availability of funds. The National Water Quality Sub-Mission has been formulated based on the number of habitations affected by arsenic / fluoride as reported by the States in Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) of the Ministry as on 18th August, 2016. State-wise number of habitations affected by arsenic and fluoride considered under NWQSM is at Annexure.
