(a) whether the post of Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) is lying vacant since August 2014 affecting the functioning of the Commission very badly; and
(b) if so,the details thereof and the steps being taken to appoint the CIC without further delay?

(a) & (b): Since completion of tenure of Shri Rajiv Mathur as Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) in the Central Information Commission on 22.08.2014, the post is lying vacant. For filling up of post, advertisement has already been issued on 24.10.2014.
