Question : EXPORT BY SSIS



(a) the total exports made from Small Scale Industries (SSIs) sector during each of the last three years and the major markets for these exports;

(b) whether the Government has identified the areas where there has been decline in exports;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government to increase export of SSIs products?

(a): As per Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S) data , the total exports from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME ) sector have been provisionally estimated as follows:-

The main markets of 20 most exported MSME product groups, which constituted more than 90% of MSME exports during 2009-12 included USA, European Union (EU), UAE, Turkey, Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

(b & c): The exports of 20 most exported MSME product groups did not decline during 2009-10 to 2011-12. The list of these 20 Product groups is at Annexure.

(d): Government has been implementing various schemes/programmes to enhance the competitiveness of the MSME products for increasing their exports. Some of these schemes/programmes include the 10 components of National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP); Credit Guarantee Scheme; Credit Linked Capital subsidy Scheme; Cluster Development Programme; Market Development Assistance Scheme; and Vendor Development Programme for Ancillarisation.
