(a) The scheme envisaged the following components:
• Develop, pre - test and finalize training curriculum and modules for National Emergency Life Support (NELS) course for doctors, nurses, and paramedics.
• Develop training infrastructure in all States/UTs to implement NELS course by setting up of skill centres.
• Create a cadre of trainers to train doctors, nurses and paramedics working in emergency departments of the hospitals and in the ambulance services.
As on date, funds have been released to 82 Government Medical Colleges.
Further, National Emergency Life Support course (NELS) for doctors has been developed and till date 200 Doctors have been given training as mater trainers in National Emergency Life Support Course.
Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing has been entrusted the responsibility for NELS course for Nurses. JPN Trauma Centrer, New Delhi, has been entrusted the responsibility for NELS course for paramedics.
(b) Details of funds allocated and expenditure incurred from 2015-16 to 2020-21 under the said scheme:
