Question : PURCHASE OF COMPUTERS BY CSIR

(a) whether the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research placed purchase order for computers in 1995 without specifying the required specification and configuration;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor ;

(c) whether the specified computers were supplied ;

(d) if so, by whom, at what price, make/model of the computer and the configuration thereof ;

(e) whether the computers supplied/installed in July 1995 could not deliver the required result ;

(f) if so, whether any action has been taken against the officials responsible for purchasing the said computers and causing pecuniary loss to the State; and

(g) if so, the details thereof ?

(a) : No Sir, CSIR Head Qtrs. placed two purchase orders alongwith specifications during March 1995 for procuring computers from M/s. HCL-HP and M/s PCL.


(b) : Does not arise.
