Question : RATE LIST REGARDING CIVIL AND ELECTRICAL WORKS

(a) whether the Central Public Works Department is providing updated rate list regarding Civil and Electircal works on computer floppies to all the sub-divisions of its department;

(b) if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) the time by which such floppies are likely to be provided;

(d) whether it is a fact that agreements are not being prepared in official launguage Hindi due to non-availability of such floppies and Official Language Act is not being complied with; and

(e) if so, the reasons therefor?

(a)to(c): Computer floppy of the CPWD schedule of rates is already available with the department. The computer floppies of rates have not been made available to sub-divisions of the Departments as the sub-divisions are yet to be provided with computers. Computerization of CPWD is being done in two phases. Phase I & II which is in progress will cover computerization up to the Divisional Level. Computerization of subdivisions will be taken up after Phase II has been completed. Software on floppies will be provided at subdivisional level as soom as computers are made available to the subdivisions.

(d)&(e): No, Sir. The standard Contract forms are available in Hindi and English. The schedule of quantities and special conditions are written in english. They will also be made bilingual when computerization is completed.
