Question : Appointments in CPWD on Compassionate Grounds

(a) whether several cases of appointment of the dependents of the deceased officials on compassionate grounds have been pending in CPWD, Delhi during the last five years till date and only one woman has been appointed on compassionate grounds in Group ‘D’ category;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the reasons for the delay in said cases;

(c) the time by which appointments on compassionate grounds are likely to be made; and

(d) the details of the reasons for not taking action on the requests made by the Members of Parliament in this regard?

(a) to (d): During the last five years 74 compassionate appointments (including 41 women) in various Group ‘C’ posts (erstwhile Group ‘D’ posts) have been made by Central Public Works Department (CPWD) in Northern Region including Delhi. The process of filling up of vacancies on compassionate grounds is a continuous and an ongoing process. Such appointments are made in terms of guidelines laid down by Department of Personnel & Training.
