Question : New Train on Chhapra-Thawe Route

(a) whether the Government proposes to start a new train on the Chhapra-Thawe Route in the Varanasi Railway zone;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the time by which the train will be started;

(c) whether there are sufficient trains running on this route and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the details regarding the number of passenger trains running on this route in a day with capacity of train and the estimated passengers boarding the train?

(a) & (b) No, Madam. At present, there is no proposal for introduction of new train between Chhapra and Thawe.

(c) & (d) At present, 01 pair of Mail/Express and 03 pairs of Passenger services, including 15113/14 Lucknow-Chhapra Express (Tri-weekly) via Thawe introduced w.e.f. 12.10.18, are serving Chhapra-Thawe section, which are considered adequate to cater to the present level of traffic.

The total number of passengers travelled on Chhapra-Thawe-Chhapra section in the financial year 2017-18 and 2018-19 (upto November 2018) was approximately 3.95 million and 2.90 million respectively.
