Question : FAKE REVENUE STAMPS



(a) whether a large number of fake revenue stamps are in circulation in the country and causing loss of crores of rupees to the exchequer; and

(b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken against the responsible persons?

(a)&(b) : Revenue stamps are printed in India Security Press, Nashik and distributed by the Department of Posts. As per the records of Department of Posts, the total value of fake revenue stamps detected during the last three years is Rs. 6,94,734. In addition, India Security Press, Nashik has received reports about 10,461 fake stamps (valued at Rs. 10,461) during the last three years from various authorities. Appropriate criminal action has been initiated against the departmental officials and outsiders involved in this malpractice.
