MINISTER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (SHRI MURASOLI MARAN)

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. The Govt. of India has approved, in principle, India`s participation in the retention scheme of the Association of Coffee Producing Countries (ACPC). The Coffee Board has already initiated action for implementation of the retention scheme.

(c) : India`s share of coffee exports in the world market is 4.69%.

(d) & (e) : As per retention plan of ACPC, the coffee producing countries are required to retain 20% of exportable coffee to be exported from each country in order to stabilise the falling coffee prices. It is hoped that the implementation of the said plan for Indian coffee will help in boosting the prices of coffee.
