MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SHRI DINSHA PATEL)
(a) to (c): Prime Ministerâs Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) has been introduced
in 2008-09 for assisting beneficiaries in setting up micro enterprises in rural and urban
areas with attractive levels of subsidy for generation of additional employment opportunities.
The types of âmicro enterprisesâ assisted through Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)
under PMEGP include Agro-based food processing units, forest based units, Polymer and chemical
based units, Mineral based units, Service units, etc. The State/Union Territory (UT)-wise
details of the units assisted during 2008-09 and 2009-10 are given at Annex.
The margin money assistance is provided through the KVIC, who in turn allocates the
funds to the States/Union Territories on the basis of targets assigned to the States/Union
Territories against each of the implementing agencies, namely, KVIC, Khadi and Village
Industries Boards of States/Union Territories, and District Industries Centres. The State/
Union Territory-wise details of margin money utilised under PMEGP during 2008-09 and 2009-10
are given at Annex. along with the State / Union Territory-wise number of persons, estimated
to have benefited from PMEGP during 2008-09 and 2009-10.
