Question : DAIRY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN ORISSA



(a) whether any centrally sponsored Dairy Development Project is being implemented in Orissa particularly in KBK districts;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the achievements made under the scheme during the last three years and thereafter; and

(c) the number of people benefited under the project during the said period?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (SHRI KANTI LAL BHURIA)

(a)to(c): A dairy development project was approved by Government of India during 1993-94 under the Centrally sponsored scheme ‘Integrated dairy Development Project’ (IDDP) for implementation in Kalahandi, Koraput, Bolangir & Phulbani districts of Orissa with a total outlay of Rs.631.00 lakh. The project has since been completed. Thereafter, during 1998-99 another project under IDDP was approved covering 14 districts of Orissa including KBK districts at a total cost of Rs.621.84 lakh. Against this, Government of India has released Rs.493.83 lakh so far.

649 Dairy Co-operative Societies (DCS) with a farmer membership of 41484 have been organized under these projects upto May’2004.
