(a) Government has earmarked Rs.4.2 crores for undertaking detailed Feasibility Study Report for Sethusamudram Canal Project. Accordingly, global tenders have been invited which are scheduled to be opened on 15.12.2001. The Feasibility Study is likely to be completed within a period of two years after finalisation of the tenders.

(b) The project is at a preliminary stage and final decision about its implementation will be taken after Report of the Feasibility Study is available.
