Question : Safe Drinking Water

(a) whether the Union Government proposes to acquire abandoned quarries in States like Kerala to harvest and distribute safe drinking water to the people living nearby;
(b) if so, whether the Union Government proposes to conduct a pilot study on the possibilities of using abandoned quarries as safe water reservoirs;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government proposes to use ultra-violet and ozone sterilization technologies to purify various water bodies; and
(e) if so the the details thereof?

(a) Union Government has no proposal to acquire abandoned quarries in the country including Kerala State for the purpose of supply safe drinking water in the rural area of the country.
(b) & (c) Does not arise.
(d) There is no proposal of the Union Government to use ultra-violet and ozone sterilization technologies to purify various water bodies. Ultra-violet and ozone sterilization technologies are established disinfection technologies that can be used in water treatment plants and as point-of-use domestic filters.
