Question : Privatisation of Airport

Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION
be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the Government proposes to privatise more airports currently under the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in the next four years and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the total revenue that Government has accrued from the airports run by private entities; and

(c) the total revenue, the Government has accrued from the airports run by the AAI?

(a): Airports Authority of India (AAI) has recently awarded six airports namely, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru for Operations, Management and Development under Public Private Partnership (PPP) for a period of 50 years. AAI Board in its 190th Meeting held on 5th September, 2019 has approved leasing of another six airports namely Bhubaneshwar, Varanasi, Amritsar, Raipur, Indore and Trichy for Operations, Management and Development through PPP.;

(b): AAI has accrued approx. Rs. 30,069 crore from its Joint Venture Airports/Public Private Partnership airports run by private entities till F.Y. 2020-21. In F.Y. 2020-21, Government of India has accrued approx. Rs. 856 crore from Hyderabad International Airport Limited (HIAL) and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) as concession fee.;

(c): The Government of India has accrued approx. Rs.846 crore by way of Guarantee Fee, Income Tax and Goods & Service Tax (GST) from the Airports run by the AAI during the year 2020-21.;
