MINISTER OF STATE IN THE PRIME MINISTER`S OFFICE (SHRI PRITHVIRAJ CHAVAN)
(a) There are two Sports Sub-Centres being run at present by Sports Authority of India (SAI) :-
1. SAI North-East Sub-Centre, Guwahati (Assam) 2. SAI Sub- Centre, Lucknow ( Uttar Pradesh)
(b) In addition, three Sub-Centres - at Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), Pune (Maharashtra) and Nagercoil (Tamil Nadu) are proposed. The construction in respect of Sub-Centre at Hazaribagh is in progress. As regards Sub-Centre at Pune, the Maharashtra Government has not provided the required 50 acres of land and its share of Rs.1 crore, hence the Sub-Centre at Pune could not take off. The matter with regard to Sub-Centre at Nagercoil, the Government of Tamil Nadu has yet to provide the suitable land at Nagercoil.
(c) In view of reply of part (b) above, question does not arise.
(d) The construction work of sports Sub-Centre at Hazaribagh is expected to be completed during 2006-07.
