Question : Installed Clean Energy Capacity

(a) whether the Country’s installed clean (renewable) energy capacity has touched 70 Gigawatts (GW) recently and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether this shows that India is progressing fast in the areas of renewable energy and it is committed to meet the target of having 175 GW renewable energy and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether any projects are under implementation in this regard and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the details of States with maximum renewable power generation in the country?

(a) A total of 71.32 GW of renewable energy capacity has been installed in the country as of June, 2018 which includes 34.29 GW from wind, 23.03 GW from Solar, 9.51 from bio-mass and 4.49 GW from Small Hydro.
(b) & (c) The Government has set a target of installing 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2022 which includes 100 GW from solar, 60 GW from wind, 10 GW from bio-mass and 5 GW from small hydro. In addition to 71.32 GW of renewable energy capacity that has been installed, projects of around 18 GW of renewable energy capacity are under implementation in the country.
(d) The details of state-wise generation of renewable energy during the year 2017-18 are given in the Annexure.
