(a) & (b): Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has been implementing a Scheme for Creation/Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) for setting up/expansion of industries in food processing sector which includes meat/poultry/fish processing. Under the Scheme, grant-in-aid is provided to eligible applicants @ 35% of the eligible project cost in General Areas and 50% of the eligible project cost in North Eastern States (including Sikkim) and Difficult areas including Himalayan States/UTs (Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Ladakh & Uttarakhand), notified ITDP areas and Islands subject to a maximum of Rs.5.00 crore.
Applications under the Scheme are invited online from potential investors/ entrepreneurs against Expression of Interest (EoI) issued by Ministry from time to time depending on the availability of funds and also vacant slots. The willing entrepreneurs may apply for setting up of food processing units as and when the Ministry invites EoI in future.
Till date, Ministry has approved 7 projects for meat & poultry processing, having total project cost of Rs. 84.39 Cr with approved grant-in-aid of Rs.23.94 Cr. Out of these, 4 projects have been completed.
(c) & (d): As of now, this Ministry does not propose to acquire any existing meat processing centres set up by State Governments.
