(a) whether the Government has asked the State Governments to ensure that water conservation work like construction of check dams and de-listing of traditional water bodies be taken up under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS);
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(c) the response of the State Governments thereto, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (c) Water conservation and water harvesting structures including construction of check dams and de-silting of traditional water bodies are permissible works which can be taken up under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). A detailed advisory containing standard designs and quality parameters for these works was issued on 26th June 2014 to all States. State-wise number of completed works under these categories during 2013-14 and 2014-15 is indicated in Annexure.
