(a): Yes, Sir.
(b)to(e): The Central Government has taken several initiatives
to promote low cost housing in the country. Some of the major
initiatives to popularize and promote low cost housing are as
given below:
(1) Setting up of Building Materials Technology Promotion
Council (BMTPC) as an inter Ministerial organization in
1990 with a view to desseminating the information relating
to low cost housing technologies.
(2) Incorporation of low cost building technologies and
materials/products like clay fly ash bricks, lime fly ash
bricks, under reamed piles, precast concrete lintel,
precast solid and hollow blocks, particle door shutters
etc. into Delhi Schedule of Rates of CPWD 2002.
(3) Strengthening of National network of building centres
through Building Materials Technology Promotion Council
(BMTPC) and Housing and Urban Development Corporation
Limited (HUDCO) for demonstration and extension.
Government of India plays the role of facilitator. This
is an on-going process.
