(a) : The Ministry of Minority Affairs implements the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) in 1300 identified Minority Concentration Areas (MCAs) in 308 Districts of the Country which include 870 Blocks, 321 Towns and 109 District Headquarters, with the objective to develop socio economic assets and basic amenities. In the last 7 years, under PMJVK, more than 43000 basic infrastructure projects have been created such as schools, colleges, hostels, community centres, common service centres, ITIs, Polytechnics, Girls Hostels, Sadbhavana Mandap, Hunar Hub etc in backward Minority concentrated areas across the country.
The coverage of the scheme in the State of Kerala has been increased from only 5 MCAs (4 Blocks & 1 Town) in 2 Districts to 73 MCAs in 2018-19, which include 7 District HQs, 23 Blocks and 43 Towns covering 13 Districts in the State. Since inception of the Scheme, the Ministry has approved projects worth Rs. 207.20 crore in the State of Kerala. The projects approved includes 209 Additional Class Rooms (ACR), 1807 Bicycles, 9 Community Service Centres (CSCs), 19 Drinking Water Projects, 33 Health projects, 2 Hunar Hubs, 1 Industrial training centre (ITI), 2 Market Sheds, 17 Toilets, 2 School Buildings, 3 Skill Development Centers and 3 Working Women Hostels.
(b) & (c): State-wise allocation is not made under PMJVK. The projects under PMJVK are proposed by the State Government based on the felt need to address the development deficits identified in the Minority Concentration Areas (MCAs) of the State concerned.
