(a) The entire river Ganga, from its origin to Ganga Sagar is targeted under the Namami Gange Programme.
(b) The river Ganga passes through 5 states, namely, Uttarakhand, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The states, in general, are extending cooperation.
(c) No priority is given to any state in particular. However, it is proposed to develop Jharkhand as model case for Ganga rejuvenation interventions. This is because a) that length of 78 Kilometer can be easily covered, and b) results can be achieved faster.
(d) The cleaning of Ganga River is being carried out through service providers and/or organizations, who will be arranging the required machinery, and the service charges will include the charges for the machineries.
(e) Between Haridwar to Varanasi, 19 projects are sanctioned till date at an estimated project cost of Rs 2427.51 Crore. These includes 17 projects related to sewage and sanitation related and 2 projects are related to development of river front development. These projects will create a facility of 394 MLD of STP capacity and laying of 1269.17 km of sewerage pipeline. Out of these, 5 projects are completed which has created 123 MLD of STP capacity and 447 km of sewerage line has been laid already. Remaining projects will be completed by 2020.
