Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF SHIPPING, ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI K. H. MUNIYAPPA)

(a ) & ( b): The condition of the bridges on various National Highways (NH) including NH 17 is assessed from time to time and appropriate actions for their repairs/reconstruction are taken up as per site requirements. As regards Moidu bridge at Muzhapilangad, the proposal for its repair has been received from the Public Works Department, Kerala and the same is under process. Moorad bridge though narrow in width, is in good condition.

(e) to ( f): There are three bypasses identified on NH 17 in Kerala namely Calicut, Thalassery-Mahe and Koilandy deviation having length of 28.12 km, 18.03 km and 11.21 km respectively. Out of these, Calicut bypass is completed in a length of 16.25 km and construction is in progress in 2.78 km. The remaining length of Calicut bypass and other two bypasses are proposed along with four laning of NH 17 under NHDP Phase III.
