THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (SHRI HUKUMDEO NARAYAN YADAV)

(a) The amount of grant provided to ICAR research establishments by the Union Government during the last three years is as under:

(Rs. in crore)
Year Amount of Grant
1997-98 880.85 1998-99 1001.66 1999-2000 1298.88

(b) & (c) Due to advances made through research work by ICAR research establishments, the farmers do have now quality seed and planting material of high yielding varieties of almost all the agricultural and horticultural crops. With the high yielding variety seeds, time & energy saving farm implements & machinery and better resource management, the farmers are getting higher yields for their crops meaning thereby that the status/financial conditions are improving. Similarly, the production levels in livestock, dairy and fishery products have also been enhanced with application of advanced research methodologies resulting in higher income to the farmers.

(d) & (e) The enhancement of grant for future cannot be contemplated.
