Question : Teachers Training

(a) whether the Government proposes to train teachers in remote areas, rural areas and backward villages for efficient teaching after the implementation of national Education Policy (NEP), 2020;
(b) if so, the mode of training to be used for the same; and
(c) the time limit fixed for this purpose?

STATEMENT REFFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 261 FOR REPLY ON 15.03.2021 ASKED BY HON’BLE MPs SHRIMATI APARUPA PODDAR AND ADV. DEAN KURIAKOSE REGARDING TEACHERS TRAINING:

(a) to (c): Yes Sir. As per NEP 2020, each teacher is expected to participate in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for minimum 50 hours in a year.
The Central Government has launched an integrated teacher training programme for the holistic development of school heads and teachers named NISHTHA. The program aims at capacity building of Teachers, Head of Schools and Key Resource Persons (KRPs) from all parts of the country including remote areas, rural areas and backward villages.
In view of the impediments arising due to Covid-19 pandemic, this training program has been made 100 percent online as per the requirements of learning and teaching. So far, 17,23,068 teachers, school heads and KRPs have been trained through face to face mode, and about 23 lakh teachers, school heads and KRPs have been enrolled in online mode.
Education, being in the concurrent list of Constitution of India, States & UTs are also required to plan and implement in-service training of all teachers as per vision of NEP.
Moreover, teacher training is a continuous process.
